Sydney – architecture in Bondi Beach

Another reason I love Bondi is because of all the Art Deco buildings along the waterfront and dotted around elsewhere. Generally the feel of the seafront is very much that of an English seaside town, with Fish & Chip shops and pubs, it’s just that the weather is much better!

These sugary units are along the north end of Campbell Parade.

Bondi Road has some of the oldest residential buildings in Sydney, such as the cottages in the first picture.

Wrought iron is a common feature, the detailing on this house being a typical example. It looks lovely but the painting must be a nightmare.

Love the two faces made by the doors and windows in this photo.

Some other small blocks of flats on Hall Street made me feel like I was in London on a sunny day.

There’s a bit of neo Deco about.

And there are many more interesting buildings both modern…

… and old.

Off to Tasmania next!
